Lillie

shih tzu + bichon frise & poodle(?) mix, 5 years [11/26/17]

the beautifulest most specialist girl in the world. feast your weary mortal eyes upon her adorable gaze and know what it is like to feel peace.

my silly baby and the runt of her litter, born to my sweet first dog cola in 2017. she was so small i could hold her and her three siblings together in my hands. her brothers and sister have long gone to loving homes and we get updates on them once in a while, but lillie stayed with us and every day (especially since cola's passing) i am more and more grateful for her. when she and her siblings were little they figured out how to climb onto my bed in the middle of the night and id wake up with them all over my head

shes an incredibly funny girl who screams like a human when she hears us pull up in the driveway and she likes to a bully stick in her mouth on the way home from the pet store. the groomers love her and put little bows in her hair for us after every haircut!! her nicknames is "wiggles" or "wiggly bear" because that's her finest trait :) she wiggles furiously when she's happy and when she wants something and when she's lying on her back wanting tummy scritches. shes got these big and beautiful eyes and a faint little patch of white on her forehead that matches the one her mom had

Coco

shih tzu + poodle(???????) mix, 8 years [04/06/15]

yo what is that thang

coco was originally supposed to be my brother's dog, but he got super attached to my mom and now hes obsessed with her. everywhere she goes, he's at her feet. like shakira says in "whenever, wherever". we were told when we adopted him that he was pure shih tzu, but we're not completely convinced. hes huge and heavy and when my mom leaves the house he lies at the front door like a scorned lover hoping his beloved will return.

he had beautiful eyelashes

AKA The Sniffer.

not actually my dog but my aunt's, but we babysit her so often we're basically splitting custody. a showdog(??????) a friend of my sibling bought in quebec before realizing she was allergic to dogs and offered to resell to us before i showed her to my aunt and swayed her into adopting her. the most dubious creature of them all, possessing eyes as round and black as tapioca pearls. she is inexplicably in a constant state of Wet. my friendgroup likes to make emojis from pictures i send of her taken at 0.5x zoom

her mom treats her like a human baby and i think that did something to her but whatever it is is really funny so its ok. i can put her on my bed and point at my partner and shout SIC 'IM and she'll start licking his face furiously. she jumps on my dads head while hes sleeping in the living room recliner. she can hide a whole rawhide bone bigger than her head in her mouth and cover it with her beard and she will hold it ALL DAY without actually chewing on it whatsoever. what a girl

Mint

domestic medium hair, 1 years [04/29/22]

fluffy angel who came straight from heaven. crinkle ball enthusiast.

we found mint and basil at the very first shelter we actually entered; i turned the corner and saw her curled in a ball against the glass of her and her three siblings enclosure, all fluffed up even as she snoozed away. she was named "queen amidala" by the shelter which was hilarious considering she was three months old and no bigger than a football but i fell in love when i first saw her and fell harder when the shelter let us meet her. there was absolutely no way i was going to leave that shelter without her and i was absolutely right for it because mint and basil are so sweet and so silly and absolutely perfect

she's probably the more behaved of the two but she definitely has her momentsā€”there was one time i was taking a bubble bath and she was in the bathroom with me so i asked my partner to keep an eye on her since the windows were open. they didn't think it was going to be a problem but it sure was: mint managed to push out the screen and fall outside in the middle of the night (good thing it was a one storey house!) and my partner had to sprint outside to find her pathetically meowing in confusion in pitch darkness. i love u mint.

what a name

Basil

domestic shorthair, 1 year [12/27/21]

you know how everyone who owns two cats jokes about one being a perfect angel and the other being a sewer gremlin. well. basil is our squeaky bath gremlin (as in, she speaks in squeaks and likes to jump in the tub when theres water in it).

when we first got basil i was a little unsure of how well she'd get along with mint, who from the moment she stepped into the house was a social, friendly little girl. basil on the other hand was shy, hiding behind a tv console for most of her first few days, and she's still shy around people to this day. but it turned out she had a very silly quirk: she REALLY likes other animals. one time she got out of the house and my partner went out looking for her only for her to come around the corner with a random orange cat in tow (the cat's name is garfield btw). she adored my partner's mom's dog too, a giant old lab who couldnt move much but tolerated her, and she loves mint sometimes to the point of exhaustion for her little sister.

basil and mint look like they could be sisters but they're actually from different littersā€”basil's brother was adopted less than an hour before we picked basil, and they were given matching names by the shelter: kiki and lala :)
