Athanasia was the only remnant her father had of her mother, a Corvosi-Thavnairian woman who passed away from health complications when Athanasia was scarcely a week old. She became both her father's most precious treasure and greatest bane and grew up desperate for him to actually look at her for once instead of right through her. Their strained relationship would be pressed further by Athanasia befriending Nyneve, who soon became Elgo Lethe's prized student. She offered herself as a researcher for them and studied thaumaturgy and voidsent as well, hoping to prove herself worthy as Elgo's daughter and Nyneve's best friend.
At the very moment Styx seized Athanasia's body, the Echo erupted in both her and Nyneve. She credits her ability to endure her voidsent possession to Hydaelyn's call.

Elgo Lethe | Athanasia's father. A man obsessed with the concept of immortality. While once an awkward yet kind man in his youth, losing his wife and subsequently getting caught up in his research irreversibly changed him. Athanasia does her best not to think of him and his death or the what-ifs, like the question of if she could ever forgive him for neglecting her as he did. |
Amrita Lethe | Elgo's wife and Athanasia's late mother, who Elgo met while attending school in Radz-at-Han. A playful and affectionate woman who would have doted on her daughter had she survived the illnesses that plagued her after Athanasia's birth. |

Athanasia is a Greek name meaning "immortal". Styx and Elgo are both characters from Final Fantasy Dimensions. Styx is a water witch serving the Avalon Empire, searching for crystals for the emperor. Styx comes from a river in Greek mythology that forms the boundary between Earth and the Underworld. Elgo is the Emperor of Avalon, and while he initially appears as a friend to the protagonists, it's later revealed that he's the major antagonist and is seeking for a way to cheat death and become immortal. Their surname, Lethe, is another river in the Underworld—the river of forgetfulness. Her mother, Amrita, also has a name meaning "immortality" in Sanskrit.
